Evenity injection site pain
Last week I had my 3rd Evenity injections. The MA told me with the first ones that they don’t cause sore arms because they’re given subcutaneous instead of IM. I had them in the morning, by evening my arms were very painful and that lasted into the next day. When I called the rheumatology office for advice I was told this never happens. Right. Same experience the second shots, though slightly less pain. Last week I had a different MA give the injections and mentioned the arm pain, she said that shouldn’t happen. Very minimal pain that time until late afternoon, then I was strapping ice packs to my arms.
Has anyone else had injection site pain?

I will be starting eventually 2/27/25 I’m worried about side effects
I think if you have them give your shots in your stomach and not in your arms you will be fine. The side effects listed are definitely scary. Are you just trying Evenity to build bone because of your age or osteoporosis ? I have cancer and first was on Xgeva and then Prolia.
I had my first shots yesterday. Exactly 9 hours later, I had significant pain in both arms. Took a tylenol and went to bed. This morning, there is a hard area about 2 X1 1/2 around each injection site, and the skin is quite warm. Not red though. Not sure if this is an issue that needs medical attention.
I've had 5 injections and the one I had this week has my abdomen really soar
I hope the soreness in your abdomen improves quickly. It seems like a trial and error method of where to have the injections and how each one of our bodies tolerates them.
I'm on Prolia now and have had 2 (6 months apart) in my abdomen with no problem. I didn't want to try my arms since my 1st Evenity injections left my arms so painful for days.
Best of luck with bone building of Evenity.
I get huge, golf ball sized, bumps in both arms. They last about a week and are very sore. They told me shouldn’t happen but it does!
I can't find the thread on was on where we were talking about OP meds and Evenity injections being painful. I have since been to Mayo Clinic MN and my endocrinologist was very pleased that my endocrinologist in Denver had chose Evenity. He stated that most PCP's are not aware of it's true value and are using less effective drugs. Of course this is his opinion. He is very experienced and had two felows in the room, one an Endrocinology fellow and the other an Internal Medcine Fellow so they could here the discussion and his reasoning. I happened to seemy endocrinologist today and passed on the kuddos to him. The other topic is the large lumps I got with each of the four Evenity injections I have received so far. Burning starts about 4-5 hours after injections and the lumps resolve after 4-5 days. Yesterday, my fifth injections, I used an ice pack on the way to the Infusion Center and on the way home at the suggestion of women here. I had also decided to have the injections on either side of my belly button. It still stung a bit when going in and a bit after, and this later in the evening I had one small lump and within hours both sites had lumps. They are less painful by far than my upper arm injections (4). I will continue to have them in my tummy.. the lumps are visible as one sticks out further than the other when I look down on them..however progress has been made as they are sore but more tolerable. Of course, the outcome is unknown as to I will get the improvements we'd like to see in my T Score. I took Prednisone 60mg for nearly a year that did further damage to my already declining bone health. I am 71 and I did take Bonita in late 50's early 60's for 5 years. The plan for me..if all goes well... is Reclast once a year for 3 years following Evenity to hold the new bone growth and continue it. I am a rather go with the flow person once I've made a decision..so after all of you who have shared so much of the same, I didn't mention the discomfort or the 2x2 lumps from the injections to my doctor today. Take good care..it's all part of the process. Blessings. Cynthia

1 ReactionMy first Evenity injection, I felt pain about 4 to 5 hours afterward. The second time, it was more immediate right after the injection and the pain much worse. I also noticed a lump and redness at each injection site, which was a bit concerning. To find out what would work best for me, I tried the injections in both my arm and stomach, but I felt pain at both places.
To help with the pain, I used a lidocaine patch that I cut in half, placing one on each arm. That made really helped!
I mentioned all this to my endocrinologist and the team where I get my injections, and they reassured me that these reactions are normal.

2 ReactionsI get large lumps in my upper arms and had my 5th injections in my stomach and still developed the same.. large enough so that my stomach looked swollen. They become hot and are very tender and do resolve after 4 to 5 days. It’s real for some of us.
I received my first round of 2 Envenity injections in my upper arm a week ago. They were uncomfortable but I would not say painful for me (I have a high pain tolerance). A little while after I got home, my arm began to ache and I measured a 9cm X 6 cm swollen red patch around the injection site. Then I became so fatigued that I had to take a nap. I am not a person who naps during the day. My arm remained swollen and red for several days, but the aching subsided. I did not notify my doctor and thought I would see how I react to the next dose. Anyone else have similar reactions and did they resolve with continued doses?
