I tried different statins for 20 yrs - always had to get off due to overwhelming muscle and fatigue issues. Just last year sought advice from a lipid specialist who stated my diet and health choices were not the problem and identified a familial/genetic link to my mixed hyperlipidemia, and also advised against statin use for me. I was prescribed Nexlizet - a combo of bempedoic acid and Zetia. Not a statin. Working so well I was able to cut dose from daily to every other day, and there have been none of the problems I experienced with statins.

I too have issues with statins. I also have FH. I tried Zetia. It works better than statins but I started noticing extreme fatigue. I had just stopped prednisone so I thought this was the problem. I had my testosterone checked . Turns out it was the zetia. Once i stopped I went back to normal. I have not tried the nexlizet. Taking Repatha.
