Nerve pain after abdominal surgery

Posted by mo16 @mo16, 3 days ago

I had a laparoscopic surgery to remove my ovaries in November. Since the surgery I can hardly walk. My new symptoms are different abdominal pains, and now burning, tingling, and numbness down my legs. None of the doctors I've seen can tell me why or help me. I recently submitted a request to get in at Mayo. Can anyone relate to this?

I had a C-section and had fire like burning near the incision site. I also have spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease and neurogenic claudication plus small fiber neuropathy. I can relate with burning, tingling, pins and needles, and numbness sensations. I’ve had several spine surgeries to address them.

It sounds like when they did your surgery they injured a nerve or nerves. Any injury to a nerve can take a long time to heal and depending on the severity, may not heal 100%. My suggestion to you is to see a neurologist for EMG/nerve conduction studies of your lower limbs. Your surgeon/OBGYN should help you navigate options for care and pain management post surgery.
