Neurosurgeon for Glioblastoma resection

Posted by kara81 @kara81, Jun 16, 2024

My father (53 M) has a Glioblastoma at the junction of the posterior body and splenium of corpus callosum. He had a biopsy at Brown university in Rhode Island. Does anyone know a neurosurgeon who can safely perform a resection as the surgeons at brown as well as Sloan Kettering who we consulted with state that it is risky. We are hoping to find a neurosurgeon who can perform it without any complications.

Now trying to live with optune device. It makes a full nights sleep difficult. I device requires head electrodes that lose conductivity if any sweating.

You can try using a “cooling” pillow. I’ve been using it for 6 months. Hasn’t gone off (the alarm)since!

The newer versions are polymer plastics, not ceramic. Ask if you can get the old ones replaced with the new plastic ones, supposed to be available 3-1-25

Best wishes

New development. Got a back rash that may be associated with TMZ. Waiting for dermatology consult on how to deal with it. Oncologist recommended Zyrtec and Zantac. But as both dry the skin, looking for better option.

There are sub specialties in neuro surgery. My tumor was in the right temporal lobe near the 8th cranial nerve. So I used a “skull base” neurosurgeon. He did not damage the nerve so my hearing and balance are fine.
