Lenvima (lenvatinib) increased my back pain: Anyone else?

Posted by tgaz6300 @tgaz6300, Feb 13 6:00pm

I have lived with chronic back pain for decades. In 2023 I was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma in my lung. Metastasized from previous kidney cancer in 2018.
Ever since I stated to use Lenvima my back pain (due to six herniated disc) has gotten worse. Has anyone else experienced increase pain due to the Lenvima treatment.
I have read that Lenvima causes joint and muscle pain.
My doctor seems not to believe that my condition of chronic back pain has gotten worse.
Your input will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I have been on Lenvima for 3 months. The first 2 mos. resulted in a variety of symptoms, mostly lethargy, aches and severe weakness, but then I adapted to the drug and now I feel better than ever. I have a convertible bed and will not sleep flat as that causes back (disc.) pain. I hope you can find your comfort zone. It's the 'watch and wait' when trying different applications.

I will be starting lenvima after radiation treatment. I pray that it helps prolong my life. I’ve heard taking cucucimin with it makes it twice as affective.

Do you have an Oncology team? Within my team, I have a Nutritionist. They study all the interactions of foods and supplements. There is a lot out on the web, be careful what you supplement yourself.

@tgaz6300, I added your post to the Kidney Cancer group as well: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/kidney-cancer/

When did you start Lenvima (lenvatinib)? Is it helping to reduce the metastastic lesions in the lungs?
