Believe it or not i do the childrens prep because i cant tolerate that nasty salty adult prep. Makes me vomit. I take two dulcolax and 9 ounces of miralax diluted in gatorade. It works great. Cleans me right out!

I had one colonoscopy with the liquid recommended, and, despite my following the instructions to a T, I was told I wasn't fully cleaned out. My next two colonoscopies were with pills (Sutab) rather than liquid, and I was fine. It's a bother having to space the 24 pills according to the instructions. You don't get very much sleep the night before the procedure, but it was so much easier than trying to swallow that awful liquid, and it worked much better too!

Good info. the whole prep thing is just awful Thanks 🙏🏼

Strictly about taste. Miralax has none. I am not a Gatorade fan, but found one that was ok.

I did the pills...ohhhhhh..I thought "it'll be so much easier than drinking all that stuff"..noooooooo!!.. consumed the 1st round of pills (you take so many and then wait a few hours if I remember right..) and nothing .. then started the 2nd round.. cramping soo extreme.. and then finally "it started".. the pills are very large.. so the last time I drank the stuff.. and you know.. they said I could have chicken broth.. funny thing.. the stuff tasted better than the chicken broth...I had to do a "2 day prep" and ended up not eating anything solid for almost 3 days..if they tell me pils again..I will run!! And I'm usually very complacent...and cooperative.. the doctors just say 'you're so nice.." not always !! No more big pill prep..no more nice little old lady if they try!!

My preference is Gatorade & miralax. Much easier to drink & keep down compared to the prescription meds I’ve tried. Although newer ones might be better.

I'm in my 70's and not to discourage you, but I am done with colonoscopy's. I've had several throughout the years and all of them make me sick to the point I start vomiting. I told me GI when I had my last one done that this would be my last one. They told me this last time, oh, they are much better now. That's a bunch of baloney! Wishing you the best.

As to the comment above about "they are much better now" advice...nope they are more or less the same. Are there different prep options out there...for sure and this thread has been valuable to outline them. One thing I learned is the difference in liquid prep volume...some are less. Also Good RX coupons will make most of the options affordable if not fully covered by insurance. I was unaware of Good RX until now and will always check it in the future. In most cases the ordering doctor will just write the scrip for whatever he knows and in fact they don't really care what you use (could be medical reasons for some to recommend one over another). In my case I did all the research and went with a lower volume and it did the job.

I highly recommend Sutab. Pills are easy to take, rather than the disgusting liquid, and they proved more effective for me. I had 2 colonoscopies at age 80 using Surab.
