Hello @harm67 and welcome to Connect.
I have a friend who had the same type of gun associated hearing loss. While there was slight improvement after a few weeks ( I don't believe he was treated with steroids.), he has had to go to hearing aids to regain conversational hearing. He had major hearing issues before this happened though. I lost hearing in one ear from surgery and have gradual loss in the other ear. Hearing aids are a lifesaver. While there is frustration at first, if we stick with wearing them all the time, our brain adjusts to them to make hearing more normal. Cochlear implants are also available and I may be proceeding on to that option in the future.

One other thing I will suggest, because I have had luck with this with facial nerve paralysis, is to research Lion's Mane mushrooms for hearing loss. This is a type of medicinal mushroom that helps with nerve regrowth and healing. I use Real Mushrooms purchased online and did see a difference in nerve healing when I started using it. It also affects blood clotting though so check with your doctor if you take a blood thinner and stop it before any surgical procedure. There's not much medically acceptable research on the herbs and mushrooms so often we are on our own in looking this stuff up and making wise decisions.

I hope your next ENT visit shows some improvement, but nerve tissue is very slow healing. I saw steady improvement in facial nerve function starting in 4-5 months and continuing for a few years after my surgery where the tumor affected nerve section was removed.

Thank you so much for the response! Very helpful! I’ll look into your suggestions too. I’m just taking one day at a time and getting used to new normal. Praying and staying positive the most important things I can do right now. 🙏
