EBRT Simulation: Failed two CT scans because of gas - suggestions?

Posted by johnny8924 @johnny8924, Jan 25 7:38am

I had an EBRT radiation simulation yesterday but two CT scans indicated the presence of gas. Did anyone experience this before? Bowel was clean and the bladder was sufficiently full. Dietitian called me immediately after these results and recommended a low gas diet before my next simulation on February 6, 2025. Any suggestions, advice, etc greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Wish YouTube had a super cut of all us old men in gowns jumping around with their butts hanging out - trying to fart!
The title could be “What are these men doing”😂

Hilarious!!!! You guys get gowns? In Richmond we walk up to the table and Rad tech standing in front of us holds a towel while we drop um, then we grab the towel while getting on the table. The Rad tech behind us gets the full Monty.

Oh man, and here the guys in my group at Sloan were all complaining that the gowns were old and faded!😆

They just took our waiting room away too and now we have to do all that nonsense in the main waiting room. Going downhill fast. I see huge value of having a room where we are together. Guys that were shut down a week ago are talking and even laughing.

Seriously??!! I’ve heard of budget cuts but that’s ridiculous. But our locker room had men with all types of cancer - not just prostate.
In fact, when someone told you what kind of cancer they had - and what they were going through - you were actually GLAD that you “only” had prostate cancer.

Sadly, I think some pin head made a rule. They stated due to many coming in without full bladders we need to go to the public waiting area instead of the radiation waiting room. A real head scratcher.

What a crock! We had two bathrooms off the changing rooms - one for us and one for the ladies. Although in case of an “event” either one could be used by either sex.

You know gas ex worked for me but what I found worked better was a morning fast. I do that from time to time anyway, no food in the morning = no gas. People have different biology so short fasts work for some and not others.

I did a 16 hour fast before my failed EBRT session. Will do it again and take Gas-X. I just hope the clean rectum development occurs after following the FODMAP diet and taking "Healthy Fiber".

I had 5 sessions of SBRT and did an enema before the CT simulation and before each session. For an extended run of EBRT that would be a little tougher.
