Cisplatin and Blood Clots

Hello Julie @jkhagen1. That certainly is a terrifying situation. I understand that people are more prone to blood clots while on that drug. My husband had Cisplatin for bladder cancer, but despite an increased risk of blood clots with his type of cancer, he had no issues during treatment. He had a port placed for his infusions. I wonder if using a central line like that vs a peripheral vein makes any difference in clotting risk? Perhaps a good question for your oncologist. But he was also on a blood thinner after the first bladder surgery so perhaps that helped to prevent issues. Has your doctor discussed using something like Eliquis or Xarelto to finish treatment?
