Can you cure thyroid eye disease?

When I went for my annual check up with my Opthamologist he told me I had dry eyes and gave me OTC eye drops and a prescription for glasses. Neither help. I’ve got double vision when watching TV and get discharge from my eyes and my right eye is sore in press on my closed eyelid. Researching on line it appears to be the symptoms of TED

Some people who have dry eye, don’t have thyroid eye disease. I have dry eye, but not thyroid eye disease. Getting a diagnosis is helpful. Were you diagnosed with thyroid eye disease? How long since your last exam? Whenever someone get sudden vision issue, I suggest they test their blood sugar. That was one sign I had type 1 diabetes. It left once I got my sugar level down

Chronic dry eye often requires multiple treatment measures. There are probably some threads about it here. Many of us do daily warm compresses, eye gel drops, moisturizing drops, nighttime ointment, etc. Some use prescription medications. I’ve tried 2 that didn’t help. Planning to try another one.

I hope you can figure out what’s going in and fix it,

The fact that at my last check up in December I was prescribed eye drops and prescription for with glasses neither resolved my double vision So I’ve been searching for other possible diagnosis and comments about TED seemed to fit. I also had by thyroid removed in 2018 so not sure whether they are connected. Or maybe a trip to Mayo since regular eye screening is not picking up the double vision.
Thank you for your suggestions. I will check my blood.

I have dry eyes and use over the counter Refresh PF (preservative free) I use it 4× daily. One is before bed time. It helps a lot. My blood pressure medication affects my dry eyes and mouth.

I have had thyroid eye disease for 4 years, there is no cure. Please go back to your doctor and tell him what you suspect. A Neurologist sent me for an MRI and then I was finally diagnosed. I have had 2 rounds of Tepezza, which both rounds were temporary help with a lot of side effects. Just had 2 surgeries in December to save my vision, waiting for next round of surgeries. Mayo Clinic has been studying TED for many years, they have a lot of information on the disease.
