Thank you for sharing, and I am so sorry that you are going through cancer and in need of a kidney transplant. This is so sad to hear. I wish there was something they could do for you.
Yes they expressed a few things regarding my father but nothing was hidden or changed from the 1st evaluation when they said ok, well lets do x,y, and z before we make a decision. They never said he was a high risk candidate or that they feel he might be turned down for any reason. So to have him go through many surgeries for his PAD, and other things was more frustrating. They came back and said his COPD, and PAD. However, his COPD is not horrible, and his PAD he had a bypass per their instructions to have it done before they could approve him for transplant was completed and his surgeon even said that they will have no problem attaching the kidney and things now look good. So its all frustrating. They never even asked for updated scans and are determining something off old information which is wrong. I even went to the head of the dept with U of M and explained all that has happened and they are reviewing it because what did go on is not how it should be.

@galtobelli08 That's great to hear they are reviewing the case. You may hear that your dad is back on the transplant list, do you think? Fingers crossed!!

Meanwhile check with Mayo Clinic to see if he can be evaluated for kidney transplant. You know the old saying, "if you don't ask, the answer will be 'no'."

@galtobelli08 - I am sorry your father's process has been so complex. Mayo would be happy to evaluate his situation if he feels like it would be a good idea for him. You (or he) can email me any time at transplant-rst@mayo.edu, and I can let you know more details about the process. All my best to you and your family. - Kristin
