lung nodule

Posted by linpvc @linpvc, Apr 24, 2024

since October, lung nodule in right mid lobe base has grown from 15 mm x 5 mm x 8 mm. to now ( April 20, 2024) 17mm x 9mm x 14mm. plus its margins are now described as questionable spiculated. it is non calcified. it is new finding was not there a gear ago.
no indication of soread, lymph nodesc are fine. when this new nodule was first discivered , i was given options of wait and see if changes, remove nodule or biopsy, i chose wait and with scabs, bkth CT aND pet now with mist fecent and fifth scan suggestion is another Oet ( would be sixth scan both Pet and CT)
ive asked doctor for biopsy. any thoughts if that is best decision? im tired if not knowing and want it out to be safe.

Hello, so glad to hear you are doing well post procedure for your lung nodule? Did you find out the pathology of it after your procedure? Will you need to continue to have scans now that you have had it removed or did you get the all clear? Thanks for updating, wishing you continued good health!

They did a frozen biopsy during surgery of nodule and lymph nodes. No Cancer. The remaining labs have not been received. I know I will have an Xray at my post op visit so I will find out then if she wants a 6 month CT.

i've only had scans, no procedure. The nodule is stable per the most recent scan. and located too near my heart to make a routine biopsy safe. I see Doctor next week not sure what pulmonologist will suggest. Im guessing more scans.

What size? ION was excluded for biopsy! That can most times reach hard to reach areas.

Thank you for the clarification. I am happy to hear that you are stable and pray that you will stay that way forever! Please continue to update as will I in case it helps anyone. I have another scan in September which seems like a long time from now. Got to get ahold of this anxiety and I am sure I will but boy it can be hard sometimes 🙂 Wishing you good health!

An Ion lung biopsy is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a robotic catheter to collect tissue samples from the lungs. The Ion system is designed to help diagnose lung cancer early by sampling small nodules.
How it works
A thin, flexible catheter with a camera is inserted into the patient's mouth.
The catheter navigates the patient's airways to reach the nodule.
The catheter's shape-sensing technology provides real-time guidance.
Multiple biopsies can be taken from the nodule.
Benefits
The Ion system can reach small nodules in all 18 segments of the lung.
It can biopsy nodules as small as 6 millimeters in size.
It can create a 3D roadmap of the lungs to guide the biopsy.
Applications
The Ion system can help doctors diagnose lung cancer at an early stage. It can also help reduce uncertainty and increase patient survival rates.
Procedure
The Ion procedure is performed under general anesthesia and is usually an outpatient procedure that takes less than 90 minutes.
You have to do a Full Chest CT with arms straight up and arms straight down for you surgeon to use them to guide them. It’s known to also to be able to reach hard to reach areas safely.
