Sudden onset vertigo
Looking for help with vertigo.
I've had the following tests with no answers...head/neck MRI, CTA with contrast, EEG, heart monitor for 2 weeks, vestibular testing with goggles (dots, vertical lines, cold/ hot air in ears etc) when I get the attack, I usually feel pretty healthy. It has happened at night and during the day. It starts with nystagmus of both eyes. Feels like I'm on a ride that spins and flips in different directions. This happens for the first 15 mins or so. Sometimes i throw up. I can't open my eyes for 2 hours. Or the ride starts again. Dr doesn't know where to send me next. Eye Dr can't find anything. Any suggestions...

stelj, My experience with vertigo is usually from having a migraine or a sinus infection. I keep Meclizine (Antivert) on hand at all times which is prescription.
The first onset about 15 years ago was the worst and it last about 2-3 months. The worst of it was the first week with the nausea too. I had to be careful leaning over or turning my head to quickly or I would go into a spin. I have had a few "minor" flares since them and it only lasted a few days.
My primary doctor then coul look at my eyes and tell me side the vertigo was on. Mine was always on the left side....my migraine side. I had a small "bout" of it a while back that lasted 3 days. I couldn't lay flat or on the left side. Mine always seems to start late at night and wakes me up.
Some people go to the chiropractor and get tremendous relief.
My mom & aunt were both prone to vertigo and I remember they would have it for a long time. Back in the "old days" they gave Valium for it. I question if it is hereditary.
Some medications and Meniere's Disease can cause vertigo as well.
Praying for you. It is hard stuff to deal with. Blessings...
Any hearing loss with it? Are you taking any new medications or supplements? Any changes in your diet? What were the results of your vestibular testing?
