Use of Herceptin for clear cell endrometrial cancer Stage IV

I've had herceptin throughout my chemotherapy and it's what I'm receiving as maintenance. The side effects on a day to day based are minimal. It's not chemotherapy it's a targeted drug. The worse potential side effect is heart toxicity. I am working with a cardiologist to oversee what's going on with my heart.

The drug is showing promise in lengthening life span for woman with rare uterine cancers.

I had no quorms with this drug being prescribed for me.

@kbearmi I typed "herceptin" in the search box at the top of this screen. You might like to try that too. Most of the prior comments and discussions I located were in the Breast Cancer Support Group.

thought I'd chime in. I have IIIC1 (maybe 2, now) serous cell uterine cancer. Was diagnosed in June 2023. Underwent Carbo/pacil --6 rounds. Cancer metastasized in to pelvic and para-aorta lymph nodes. Had one month of Letrozole (hormone therapy drug), to see if it might shrink tumor. It didn't do a thing. Went off of that, and after a multitude of CT scans, and PET and MRI scans, the cancer showed it had spread and original lesion had grown. All this to say that the Carbo/pacil didn't work for me, in my case, hormonal therapy was a waste of precious time. I'm what you'd call, platinum-resistant. The doctor didn't say this to me; I looked it up, as with almost everything else. AS for Letrozole, it has only a 9% efficacy rate.
I have had no other systemic treatment since then. Just had a short, one-time burst of radiation to relieve pain and bleeding coming from a new, substantially large lesion in pelvis. Hasn't done anything. Now I'm waiting for participate in a clinical study using Enhertu, a targeted treatment using trastuzumab + deruxtecan (T-DXd). Trastuzumab is the clinical name for Herceptin.
All this to say that Herceptin is being used with other chemo drugs, in my case, deruxtecan, which have prove to be successful in extending PFS and OS for cancer patients with HER2 positive IHC3+, especially, and IHC2+ moderately. I am IHC2+.

You might consider inquiring about the T-DXd for yourself.

Hi Denise, my mom has high-grade endometrioid endometrial cancer, has undergone one round of carboplatin/taxol chemo, and biopsy results recently showed HER2 positivity. It looks like her oncologist may add it to her treatment between her second and third rounds of chemo (that’s when she has an appointment scheduled to check on her heart, which I know needs to be looked at before she can start Herceptin). Would you mind sharing at what point Herceptin was added to your treatment? I’m just trying to find more info. It seems potentially promising, and my mom’s cancer is especially aggressive so I am hoping for any and all options for her. Thank you.

You are a wonderful daughter to come here on behalf of your mother. Are you taking care of your mother during her cancer treatments?

Sadly, the new treatment (herceptin and taxol) is not working. Tumor markers up. Meeting with doctor in May to talk next steps. It's not looking good.
