What are some helpful tips when recovering from autologous stem cell transplant?

Are there any special things you recommend to have during recovery?

Welcome to Connect, @bear13. You came to the right place to be able to speak with others who have had transplants using their own stem cells. Recovery time can vary between patients but generally the first month to six weeks following an autologous stem cell transplant are the most challenging with fatigue and sometimes nausea being the biggest culprits. There’s no rushing recovery. It simply takes time, patience and following the instructions of your transplant team.

I found what I think might be a good place for you to connect with some fellow ASCT members so here’s that link where you’ll meet @jstpeachey @secglc @jiminmorris @heathermcfarland and others who have gone through this process or were caregivers.

Have you had your transplant yet or just about to embark on that adventure? If you don’t mind sharing, what was the underlying illness that prompted the transplant?
