Prolia verses Evenity
Started out on Fosamax for several years. Then was on Prolia for 8 years and back to Fosamax for 2 years. Endocrinologist left and now I have new endocrinologist. New doctor is recommending I go on Prolia forever or Evenity for 1 year and then possibly switch to Prolia or another medication. Has anyone had a similar experience?

My endo felt that I would have more gains in bone density after 3 injections of Prolia and then move on to reclast to lock in my gains. There is no bone growth with reclast.
I'm trying to decide on taking Evenity however current Rheumatologist hesitant prescribing due to black box warning. I was not aware that Prolia builds bone like Evenity. All I see in articles about bone building is only anabolic like Evenity, Tymlos and one more??( 3 of these anabolic ). If Prolia builds bone and not just harden outside bone then I would be interested. Thanks
Evenity is better at building bone 11-14% during the first year but Prolia also helps with the bone density 6-8% during the first 2 years. My T score in my spine was -4.6 after a year with Evenity it is now -3.3.
I received my last Evenity shots today, had a Dexa and got the results.
Spine last year was -3.8 now -3.3 increase of 8.3%
L neck was -2.2 now -2.1
R neck was -2.0 now -1.9
L hip was -1.8 now -1.6
R hip was -1.9 now -1.6
Five years ago my spine was -4.5.
I am wondering where to proceed from here? Ideas? My doctor originally wanted to put me on Prolia after Evenity. I think I need another bone builder. Do I do 1 year of Prolia, then one Reclast and after that start Forteo?
In regards to my spine... (after 2 years of Reclast) I had 2 Prolia shots and gained 10.1%! The next year of Prolia I lost 3.6%! Now I just gained 8.3% on Evenity. So overall (since 5 years ago) 2 years of Reclast, 2 years of Prolia and 1 year of Evenity gave me a gain of 21% in my spine.
May I ask how old you are?
91
On Prolia for over 10 years….have had no broken bones.
Should I continue it.
Hi Elizabeth. I am 76 and I just started Prolia. I did not want to use Prolia this soon but I have a number of osteoporosis meds prior...fosomax, forteo and Evenity. I am having a consult with another endocrinologist so that I make next decision. What does you endocrinologist say and is prolia the only med that you've taken since getting an osteoporosis diagnosis. Most of us here are working on figuring out the drug sequencing to keep osteoporosis in check. You'll get lots of information from other patients here. Keep us posted.
Hi @pami , congratulations on your impressive gains. What's more impressive, is your body's resilience to various osteodrugs; and the sequence worked! Evenity helped further bmd gains after 2 years of prolia! Maybe 2 years of reclast prior to prolia helped in reducing chances of rebound effect? I think you should start a new thread so those of us who are interested could follow your progress. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
I was told Prolia didn't build bone, was an antiresorptive. Someone please correct me if this is wrong.
