I'm surprised--I was given this to control stomach acid when I had an ulcer and I use it now because I'm a blood thinner that makes my stomach bleed if I don;t take it.
It's a Nonprescription (over-the-counter) omeprazole is used to treat frequent heartburn (heartburn that occurs at least 2 or more days a week) in adults. Omeprazole is in a class of medications called proton-pump inhibitors. It works by decreasing the amount of acid made in the stomach.
It's done nothing for me with respect to excess mucus in my throat.

So sorry to hear this. So far both myself and my friend have seen a big improvement.
