Should I assume that you meant you were testing canned, or otherwise prepared fruit for gluten? Because all fruit is naturally gluten free.

All fresh fruit is gluten-free; however it can be sprayed with a high gluten wheat starch that helps the fruit retain its color and acts as a preservative. It is considered a “natural ingredient” because it’s wheat. Also sprayed on veggies; companies don’t have to list it as an ingredient because the veggies are sprayed by the farmers before they’re sold to the company; that’s how we get a lot of “all natural veggie/fruit products” on labels.
