Evenity Injection Yesterday -Strong lower Rib/back pain today-thoughts

Hi Friends, Short version of a long story. Prolia 6 years-femur fx, bad history with Bisphophnates.... Evenity chosen as the next drug....NOW THE QUESTION: First injection yesterday- this morning after breakfast I started to have lower left back rib pain. It hurt when I walked, quite severe. Went to ER to rule out rib fracture. Doc reports no fracture, and was not familiar with Evenity. Doc said "muscular skeletal" It's my guess that this is side effect of the my first injection yesterday. Can anyone share insights of this being a typical side effect. How long it might last, and if there is anything that would help beside Tylenol.

It's good you went to the ER. Sometimes pain with Evenity is caused by the release of histamines. Claritin might help. I have read on this site that rib pain can last for 5 to 7 days. It's a good idea t contact your prescribing physician, even though this type of pain is seen with Evenity. Typically any joint is susceptible.

@sbax75 I just had my eighth Evenity shot, and what I am realizing is that I have various aches that seem to vary in location...this week after my 8th shot I had discomfort in my femoral neck area on the left side, so I waited it out and after a couple more days it went away. I avoided my exercises etc. The other noticeable side effect is tiredness for the first week after the shot, but after that, all seems fine. It is hard to tell which is which... is it the shot, or am I just getting old?
Blessings on your journey!

Getting a lot of thoracic pain including around ribs after 1st Evenity shot. Seems to be reducing now after about 10 days. Like you I thought I had fractured Rheumatologist has examined me and thinks its unlikely but awaiting a scan. Never the less what he did say is that whole thoracic area is very stiff - muscles do feel very tense and on occasion go into spasm. However now I am aware that pain is mostly due to stiffness I seem to feel more relaxed and pain has lessened and is more manageable. I think because this is such a new drug and I am aware that side effects can be challenging my mind went into overdrive. Feel more positive and willing to keep going with it - at least for the time being.

Antihistamines the night before and an hour before the injections along with Tylenol (the day of injections) and continuing for a day or two has helped me. I did this with doctor’s advice and am headed for #12 this week. My DEXA appeared to show significant gains last week for over the past year but am waiting for my doc to interpret it with me to be sure! 🤞
