Has anyone had the drug lonsurf and what side effects do you have?

Hi @harveyandshari, a few members have talked about Lonsurf (trifluridine and tipiracil) in the Colorectal Cancer group here:
- Lonsurf (trifluridine/tipiracil) effectiveness
https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/lonsurf-effectiveness/
Researchers have found that Lonsurf selectively kills cancer cells with mutations in the TP53 gene. Such mutations are found in more than half of all cancers, including most colorectal and pancreatic cancers.

Will you be starting treatment with Lonsurf for pancreatic cancer? Are you part of a clinical trial?

Hello, where are you being treated for your pancreatic cancer with Lonsurf? Wondering, because this has not come up as an option for me or others I know.

Thank you for your reply.

Lonsurf can be used as off-label treatment as it has FDA approval. There was research at the NCI in a pancreatic cancer mouse model combining it with the PARP inhibitor Talazoparib (Talzenna) showing effectiveness. The Lonsurf damages the DNA and the Talzenna prevents the malignant cells from repairing DNA inducing apoptosis. Currently there is a clinical trial phase I dose escalation study at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY recruiting patients with esophageal junction and colorectal cancers. If the dose escalation study is successful, the next phase plans to enroll Pancretic cancer patients.
