What was your experience with a pain pump?

@stillinpain

I was on 7mg of hydrocodone 2× a day, gabapentin, and muscle relaxers.
I got more relief on those than with this pump. Now with this pump, doc won't prescribe anything even though my pain level is the same as before.
I'm so discouraged. I need it turned off or taken out so I can get my oral medications back.
Yes, I had the trial injection and it worked. I think he changed the medication or has the catheter in a different place than where he put the injection.
Doc said he was not qualified to take it out and said it would be risky as the dural space might not close up.
I wasn't told any of this before I got this thing.

I find it interesting that in doing a search, the pain pump supposedly has a 94% success rate. That's the primary reason that I had it done. Now I have heard from many people on the Mayo Connect site that the pump did not provide any relief. I am more than just a little suspicious. I hope you are able to get the pump removed and get back on your meds.
How effective on the infamous scale of 1 to 10 would you say that the meds are in giving you relief? Thanks for your reply.

The pump was the next step suggested by my pain clinic. I opted to not go that far and I’m glad I made that choice. Chronic pain is just that-chronic Getting old just stinks. I think most of the doctors just don’t have any other answers
