I can only say what my doctor explained to me about it. I’m no expert. This is just what my doctor said regarding my case. The dose I was prescribed was very low and isn’t likely to cause low blood pressure, but to be cautious I took my blood pressure daily for about the first month. After that I still monitor it weekly, As I increase my dose more, I’ll resume more testing. I don’t anticipate a problem. The alternative would be to use topical Minoxidil, which you must apply daily. It’s doable, but a lot of work.
I take Vitamin B12 sublingual due to a deficiency, but that’s not going to cause hair growth, unless your hair loss is due to a vitamin deficiency, according to my doctor. Since I’m not certain what caused mine, it’s possible it helped with regrowth. I had post covid syndrome, B12 deficiency and rapid weight loss….so…it could have been any of them or a combination. But, according to my doctor a normal person with no deficiencies would not grow hair by taking vitamins. I also take Magnesium and fish oil. I also eat a nutritious diet. She advised me that Minoxidil and the hormone Finasteride are the only proven meds that actually cause hair growth and it doesn’t work for everyone who takes them. So, I’m skeptical of claims of hair growth by other means.
I’m sure there are developments every day. I hope so. I’ll do whatever I can. I am interested in the Biotin treatment. I intend to ask my doctor about it. Perhaps, a new treatment would be helpful.
Have you talked to a dermatologist about your experience?
No. I haven’t talked to any Dermatologist. I suffer from hypothyroidism and it can cause thin hair. I am taking Vitamins and other supplements for bone structure and muscle. I don’t think I am going to add more supplements to what I have been taking. I stopped to take Vitamins B12 because my lab values were too high. I will just leave it like that. There are so many Vitamins and supplements and shampoos for hair loss that it really gets overwhelming. Also there are so many scams regarding anything that has to do with health, that is getting dangerous. Not everyone tolerates well products for hair loss. Thanks for your input. Stay healthy.
