Stress is my trigger. And I take Valacyclovir when I feel the shingles come. She does not want to put me on a daily antiviral medicine. And does not recommend the shingles vaccine. I will ask about a topical. Thank you.

@sdumas0001, I concur with your doctor about the vaccines and treatment. It is a horribly aggravating disease, but there are things that can trigger recurrence. I found that the tingly, itchy rash that lingered after shingles was actually not related to shingles at all. The meds prescribed are great! Maybe you might see a dermatologist.

Why would your Dr. not recommend the shingles vaccine? I might be getting a second opinion on that one.
