2 ReactionsIt didn't help me either; in fact, made me worse since every brand I could find had citric acid in it which I'm allergic to (and causes constipation too).
I'm sorry to hear that because I have been using aloe vera gel for many months.
I had all the symtoms of colon cancer, and said I wanted a colonosphy. I didnt have cancer, but all the symtoms were still there including constipation. Since the Mayo Clinic suggested aloe vera I starting using the gel. It took a week or two, but has worked just great ever since, but it didn't improve over night.
The only other thing I could suggest is a retraining of the bowels discribed in a book "Better Health througjh Natural Healing.". I tried that & it worked for quite a period of time, but would have had to do it all over again, but have found the aloe vera gel to work for me consistly. I will type out the procedure in the the book if you can't locate the book and are interested.
Read the other suggestion for tjanet re: Better Health through Natural Healing. I know how horrible this is to live with so willing to help if I can. One nurse told me to take 3 Magnesium Softgels before bed. Didn't help me, so I am trilled that I finally found something that does.

2 ReactionsMy health condition is short gut syndrome so the medication for my diarrhea causes constipation so coconut water with a little fruit juice helps me with the constipation. I also have a history of electrolytes imbalance because of diarrhea and constipation.
I have been drinking one glass of cumins water ( boil one table spoon of cumin seeds with one liter of water)in an empty stomach in the morning. Have no problem ever since.
I had constipation and my doctor said I was dehydrated. She recommended electrolytes daily plus 8 glasses of water daily - I've been taking Electro-pH complex from Apex Energetics - 1 scoop daily plus Adding fiber to your diet is a very good suggestion - if you like smoothies, add 2-4 TB chia seeds; google fruits and vegetables high in fiber and you'll find helpful lists too.
I have been on laxatives for a month now because of constipation. Tried more fiber, Metamucil, didn't work at all.
I got a routine in the morning eating one spoon of honey, a cup of warm water, and a few fennel seeds, not to forget moving around and engage the muscles. If it looks to good to be true after using strong OTC medication, I just had to try to go back to more natural things. It worked for me, so I wanted to share the information to be helpful to someone else dealing with the constipation. Please do your research on fennel to see if it would be beneficial to you.

1 ReactionThanks for sharing about constipation. Appreciate going natural + as I have found having a redundant colon, we need to form fit our regularity regime to us personally. For me psyllium husks didn't work even though I tried it often and it was recommended over and over along with other laxatives.
Regularity-go-to: when stressed or I don't drink enough water is coffee (don't like or usually drink it) or Smooth Move. I avoid constipating foods + eat regularity foods like rhubarb, prunes, ground soaked flax and chia seeds, carob powder, etc. + exercise and stay active at 70+ years
Thanks again, TO REGULARITY NATUALLY,
@farmersmith

Good to know. Fennel is also a diuretic. It's amazing how many natural things are out there without all the side effects.
