Having right lateral neck disection tomorrow. Is shoulder weakness common after this. Have a friend who has had shoulder weakness for four years after procedure.

The surgeon wants to do 140 RAI. The endocrinologist was not convinced RAI worked the first time. Still discussing.
tkj68, lilyann here, i can tell you one thing about the RAi, if you have an aggressive cancer it will not help. i had the 164,5 mci, the high dose. so come this may will be 2 years for me and it did not help. i even had to have the body scan 2x's, because they could not see into the stomach on the first one. now i am also having a lot of dental problems also. so i agree with your endocrinologist. wishing you the best.
Hi there. My husband had this surgery. They told him he would likely lose range of motion on the right side due to the ligation of the main nerve that controls the arm. Long story short - he has full range of motion but definitely weakness as most of the muscle is removed as well. We have 2 young kids - he does just fine! You’ve got this ♥️
