Occasional alcohol during radiation treatment?

Dad used to tell me, with a twinkle in his eye, "If you stop drinking, you won't live any longer, but it will SEEM longer."

I wrapped up a 28-session EBRT regimen about four weeks ago. I'm four months into a six-month ADT regimen (on Orgovyx). I've continued to drink at my usual pace (1-2 cocktails per day) throughout. Early on, I think a cocktail would often trigger an ADT-related hot flash. Other than that, no impact I can identify.

Alcohol increased hot flashes when I was on Orgovyx

I totally agree with your Dad and before all this cancer stuff started I was a two cocktail man per day myself.
But now new research shows that 2 drinks per day puts us in the “heavy drinker” category and they recommend one drink per WEEK! If even that. Oh, and as of 2 weeks ago alcohol causes cancer😳 as per Surgeon General.
At a routine blood test 2 years ago, my glucose level of 103 labeled me as “pre-diabetic”….WTF?? 120 used to be the magic number, right?
But it pissed me off so much that I cut out ALL alcohol (sob!), lost 10 lbs and my next blood glucose was 84. So I’ve continued to abstain and it turned out well because my liver enzymes went ballistic on Orgovyx and I was told No Drinking!
Glad you were able to continue to imbibe - I could have really done with a drink or two during treatment.

I start 6 months on Orgovyx tomorrow. Pharmacist I spoke with last week said alcohol is not contraindicated, so I am undecided about continuing my 1-2 cocktails per most evenings. I am considering cutting back for easier weight control and just because it won't hurt.
