Tips on minimizing withdrawal symptoms from Effexor (aka Venlafaxine)
I have been taking Effexor/Venlafaxine for years and tried to get off it a few times but each time I try to give up the chemical withdrawal symptoms are a horror story and I give up giving up. Anyone got any tips or tried and tested strategies? Thank you

Hahaha, you are good for me girl. I don't feel like laughing one bit. But you are making me happy today.
I too live in Hillybilly land, the beautiful Ozarks. Only, they won't let me be one cuz I am from away. They make it that way.
I used to save oriental dinner parties for 20. My invitations were highly sought after. Never ever been invited to even one home here. Cuz I am from away.

What are you allergic to, you didn't say.

Now remember I am a nurse. Hmmm, 2 things pop out of this post. 1. Just call the doc. Don't wait till appointment. 2. Start cutting the pills up now. DO NOT TAKE ONCE A DAY. I don't know how long the non extended pills stay in the blood but you are going to put yourself in one heck of a rollar coaster ride taking it once a day.
Just call your doc and discuss this with her. Tell her my cautions. Please be safe while getting off this blanking drug. Please
Update on me. Don't want food today? Not my usual self.
No energy...but I am seeing how dirty my house is. I hate it. I think its been like this for 2-3 weeks. Dust is getting thick. Blankety blank ventilation system.
Oh that's not like me either, this swearing.
Basically on couch most of day. Not me either.
Now, this is bright wings teacher now so listen up...
It takes an action to change the way you feel! So as I was realizing how crappy I was feeling, my action was to take a bath. The warm water helped my bones feel better. Actually at this second, only my hip is hurting.
This helped me feel better.
REMEMBER
ACTION EQUALS CHANGE
I have only been taking this for about 1 week and 5 days 37.5mg......after reading all the reviews on this post I do not want to continue taking it. Do you think it’s ok to just quit or should I taper off???? Any help appreciated!
@medfree Keep in mind we are not all wired the same, Best to talk w/ prescribing physician. 1 week is not long enough in most cases to stop taking the medication.
@dianrib I try to believe they do not know,
@parus I am sorry I do not understand.....1 week is not long enough to have the withdrawals and I should keep taking it or I would be good to quit now since I have not been on it long? Thanks for responding. My physician assistant put me on this for anxiety, I currently do not suffer from depression, thankfully. I would love to not take meds at all! I am trying CBD oil as well.
@parus @dianrib
My dads last job was being a drug detail man for Wyeth drugs. Basically a drug salesman to docs. Of course they are not going to tell the docs how hard the withdrawal is going to be. That does not sell drugs. It is in the literature but most of these docs have a photographic memory. If they take the time to scan their memories. I am pretty smart too but no one can keep everything in the forefront of their brain.
@medfree17
Good for you for asking for clarification. I do not know this answer myself. So I did not respond.
Effexor for anxiety? Hmmmm. Are you on any other medications?
