@peggynurse

thank you so much for the information. Very helpful. Just curious why they changed you from a beta blocker to a calcium channel blocker?
I’m just trying to find a way to get more energy and not be so fatigued all the time. Along with cardiomyopathy I also have my valve stenosis and regurgitation.

Hi again @peggynurse . I know I posted this somewhere on one of these discussion threads but for some reason I can't track it down, so I'll repeat it as much as I can and hope I don't contradict myself too badly - the exact details are about a decade old, and sometimes I wonder if I can remember last week reliably! I was still working when I went on metoprolol and almost immediately I was falling asleep at my desk, falling asleep while driving,.... It didn't matter how much sleep I got, after about 6 hours awake I would suddenly just drop off. I was lucky that I never did actually fall asleep while driving - I always managed to pull over before it hit. But I simply could not stay awake more than about 6 hours. I got moved from metoprolol to diltiazem and the problem went away within a very short time and has never come back. This was all while we were trying to track down what was actually ailing me, which turned out to have been oHCM. As the oHCM progressed I was getting more and more tired all the time. But that was ALWAYS "gosh I feel like I have just run a marathon" and NEVER "I'm so sleepy." The sleepiness on metoprolol was a complete anomaly. Neither the metoprolol nor the diltiazem had any apparent effect on my oHCM symptoms, but as soon as I went on Camzyos, EVERYTHING changed. Was it the Camzyos all by itself? Was it the combination of Camzyos and diltiazem? Don't know, and I am not inclined to start fooling around with things to try to find out! I am not experiencing ANY of the oHCM symptoms and I want to keep it that way. (I feel like one of those guys on TV who goes on and on about some new miracle drug - they should give me shares in the company or something.)
