I am 46 years old and prior to this I would say I was petty healthy. About 4 months ago I went to bed feeling fine only to wake in the middle of the night with burning pain in the middle of my chest. I initially thought I must have ate something that is causing heartburn. This is not something that I typically deal with but took some tums and tried to go back to sleep. When I got up in the morning the pain continued. I was also feeling sweaty and heart palpitation's. In these past 4 months I have dealt with many symptoms; shortness of breath, dizziness, heart palpitations, burning in my arms, back and neck pain. I have had a variety of test; CT scan, chest X-ray, echocardiogram, stress test, angiogram, nuclear scan, mammogram, ultrasound of breast and lymph nodes, blood work for hormone levels, check thyroid . Everything comes back normal but my burning pain in my chest never goes away.
Any help would be appreciated.

I get pain that is inflammation of the connective tissue between my ribs. Not sure that is a match but just sharing my experience: costochondritis

Thanks, that was a diagnosis given in the first few months. I was on anti-inflammatory medication for 5 weeks and had no relief.

It sounds like your doctors have ruled out heart related issues. Here's an article on the topic that might provide more information:

I'm sorry you are going through this. Do you have any abdominal pain with this, and if so, has anyone considered Anterior Cutaneous Nerve Entrapment Syndrome (ACNES) as a possible cause?
Thanks for your reply! I have not had any abdominal pain.
Have you had an MRI of brain and spinal cord? Back when my child was a teen he was diagnosed with costochondritis but never went away so they did brain and spinal cord MRI and found he has a syrnix. His diagnosis is syringomyelia which is a balloon filled sac spinal fluid that doesn’t belong there. He has nerve pain constant in right side chest, uncontrollable muscle twitching, cannot feel temperature and some other issues. Currently no rx but controlling the pain. I have not had an MRI, this is something I can discuss with my doctor. Thank you!
In my case (81 y.o.) I try to do first what's in my control: Eating right, being physically active to be in a reasonable fit body and manage stress with clear thinking...also called self-taught CBT. It seems to have kept me free of any health aches, symptoms, tests, meds, surgeries -- all on a simple inexpensive but Enjoyable lifestyle.
Often/always it's the general life-style that matters first and foremost before physical or mental issues show up. I wish you find your way out.
Hi, so, question about your symptoms: any difficulty swallowing? What specialist have you seen? and do you have access to your medical records? (sorry, feel like I'm being intrusive but you did open this door... )
No difficulties swallowing. So far only seen my GP(which has been useless) and cardiologist. We have referrals in to see respirologist and internal medicine. The wait time will be months.
I have access to some medical records.
