Disorientation and confusion

I’m in the process of tapering down from 20mg now down to 10. Does anyone else have the feeling of disorientation or confusion during the day?

Ddr, I'm at 10 mg now after tapering from 60 for GCA. I haven't had any problems so far, other than a little pain in my hands. I suspect that's from normal ageing. Do you have any other problems? Did your problems start with your last step down?

My inflammation is in my hands and shoulders. I was down to 51/2 before I went on vacation and got off my diet. I do feel a little disconnect and was wondering if it was the Prednisone.

I found myself getting dizzy after my morning coffee. I gave up coffee and feel less dizzy. I hope to go back to it someday but its importance has diminished quite a bit. Now I drink tea and peppermint is my favorite.

Yes. I was down to 5mg (have been on Prednisone 10 years) then to 4 and my GCA flared up. Foggy brain..back up to 7 mg. Feeling better.
It’s tough. But what else is there to do. ? Am 86 and otherwise in good health.

Fairly common side-effects along with inability to concentrate while doing intense mental tasks. I had them, but now down to 1 mg and they have disappeared. Hang in there.

I have learned since having PMR since April 2023 that each person reacts differently to different medications. Each medication that I take gives me different side effects which change along the way. For example when I was on prednisone if I took anything over 8 mg I felt lightheaded and dizzy it was really very disconcerting to me! right now I’m kind of learning to go with the flow and take one day at a time. Unfortunately there’s no 100% given anything for any one person which is very frustrating! Wishing you the very best!

Hey Art, how long did it take you to taper down to 1mg?

Started taper from 30 as of Nov 1, 2023. Made it to 10 as of Jan 24. At that point my SED was normal, and rheumy declared PMR to be in remission, and we were no longer treating it. Then down by 1 per month to 5, then down by 0.5 per month. Rheumy promised pains and other withdrawal problems during taper. She was right. But I never deviated from the schedule, and it has worked out. I still have various pains from time to time, and fatigue. That is the way it is. Overall, I am happy with my treatment and taper schedule. Good luck to you.

I have a question. How was the flair at 5 mg diagnosed? Sed rate, crp, or systems? Thanks for your feed back.
