Red Light Therapy for Dry Eyes and Dry Mouth

I would appreciate feedback about light therapy for dry eyes. I also have blepharitis, both lids. Eyes swollen and exuding viscous fluid since April, ’24. Xiidra is not helping. Also taking Doxycycline 50 mg 1x/per. I am immune deficient, if that helps. Starting Xembify infusions tomorrow.

I use Cequa and Miebo prescriptions along w/OTC REFRESH optive Mega 3 and warm compresses. I was on Restasis for a long time and felt like it wasn't doing the job. I did Xiidra for a short time and didn't notice much difference. Miebo is new and helps with two drops a day.

Hi, I know that making the decision of the light therapy can be confusing and difficult. I also battled with my decision of going ahead with it in April. The thought of melting glands doesn't thrill me, nor does the price that isn't covered by insurance. My eyes are like yours though and driving me nuts, even though I've not had cataract surgery. (That also frightens me.) My eyes go very blurry though, water constantly, burn and sting almost nonstop. Maybe you can talk with your eye specialist and ask them tons of questions to help your decision. It's not an easy one to make, but a necessary one to decide on. Also, maybe do a search on the pros and cons of it in a search engine. I can update you in April after I begin mine, but that's still a while to wait. Let me know what you decide. Thanks. My cataract surgery was no big deal. The entire surgery took about seven minutes start to finish. I was only aware of some pushing and prodding and off and on visions of the doc being their.
I will see how the laser treatment goes if I decide to have it done.

Have you tried using the cleaning pads made with tea tree oil? They are called Cliradex, I cannot recommend them highly enough. Use them twice daily until the slight stinging goes away. Yes, there is a little sting when you use them for scrubbing, but wow! They get after the demodex follicularum, and quiet the tissues of the lids. I use one monthly now, just in case, and I know when there is no sting, there is no blepharitis. Ask your eye doc, if you want. They work.
