Hello,

I’m new here and after 2.5 years battling resistant cervical cancer I’ve been approved for total pelvic exenteration surgery at UCSF. Confident this is the best next step since we’ve exhausted other promising treatment without success.

I’m 42, restaurant owner, mother of a 7yo daughter, 5yo son and married to my husband for 16 years. I know this will be a HUGE surgery with some major life changes, but thankful for the option instead of more treatment.

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s had it. I’ll begin education through UCSF this next week and scheduled for surgery 2/6/25.

@britynbutrick Hello and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Congratulations on your tenacity in your journey and deciding to go forward with pelvic exenteration surgery. Since you provided details on your family with two small children I'm thinking that you and your husband decided to go for everything possible. What feelings are you experiencing today?

I'm curious to know more about the education program you will attend. Could you fill me in as you proceed through it?
