I too have a major problem with not getting sleepy at bedtime. I have to take 3 different medications. My doctor took one from me but she moved on and I finally got all 3 again. I take temazepam Doxepin and olanzapine. The side effect is that I forget the night before and I suffer the consequences because if I don't I go sometimes several days without sleep. It has been causing a lot of depression episodes. She also took my pain meds. I have fibromyalgia and degenerative disc disease and she didn't care. I also agree with not getting much help from anyone especially with doctors. They think I'm med seeking. I wish I could find a doctor who believed me.

Aschwaganda and Gaba are working for me now! I've tried Melatonin and many other supplements, after a while they stop working.

Once or twice each week I don’t need to sleep at all in 40 hours. During that time I’m wide awake and not sleepy at all. I just accept it now as being part of who I am. I spend the time reading or watching films. I once took sleeping pills given to me by a hospital for the night before a major operation. I absolutely loathed the effect they gave, and would never take another one.

Have you tried Trazodone? It's an anti-depressant with a side effect of sleepiness that's commonly prescribed for insomnia.. I started having severe insomnia a few years ago and that was the first medication my Dr prescribed. I don't want to take any heavy-duty meds where you can sleepwalk and not remember your actions. Right. now I take 200mg Magnesium Glycinate about 2 hrs before bed. I take a CBN/THC sleep gummy shortly before bed, and 2mg melatonin and 50mg Trazodone about 15 minutes before bed. Combined, they make me sleepy. The trouble for me is that I wake up about 4 hrs later and have trouble falling back asleep.

I've had that same experience with Trazodone. But taking it at the same time as lose dose melatonin (I take 2mg) seems to help. Good luck, insomnia is so hard to deal with.
