Are Taurine eye drops effective against Glaucoma?
The problem with glaucoma is that having higher eye pressure is not always the cause. They don't know why either. I met a woman in my doctor's waiting room who had glaucoma and her pressure is only 12 !!
This scientific article from 2020 says that taurine can protect the eye from glaucoma: Google "New solutions for old challenges in glaucoma treatment: is taurine an option to consider? "
It says "Taurine Prevents Excitotoxic and Ischemic Damages to Retinal Ganglion Cells"
Next Google "Taurine eye drops" and you will see that these are made by several different companies. My question is has anyone tried Taurine eye drops and have they had any effect on you?
Thanks for helping us learn from each other.

I can't answer your question but I'd your physician if it's safe to take with any meds you may be on.

Thanks for your concern but Taurine is in every cell in your body and is found in all meats and other foods too.
It is totally compatible with the human body. However in a study of dogs with glaucoma it was found to be greatly reduced in their eyes:
"Taurine concentrations seem to be markedly decreased in injured photoreceptors of dogs with glaucoma (Madl et al. 2005). Article by Robert Nussenblatt, ..."
Wow, It's been nearly 2 years since I posted the above comments and NO ONE else is using taurine eye drops? I am very surprised. I have been using them about once a day for over a year now and my glaucoma is stable, not much change in my bad eye. My good eye remains nearly perfect vision, thankfully. Taurine is cheap, you can get the drops on eBay or Amazon. I am not sure they are helping but from the literature I read it is likely to help and there is no downside. I am still taking 2 different prescription eye drops daily to keep the pressure low. The taurine drops do not seem to interfere with the action of those drops. I have taken the pressure test mid-day after taking the taurine drops a few hours before. I am also taking 1000 mg of taurine capsule form every morning with breakfast. It is good for your heart too.
Thanks for your post; I have never heard of these drops and I have a lot of faith in taurine; I’ll be looking into using these🌻
Just adding some lateral input: I added taurine as a sleep aid after reading about it on Dr Mercola DO, website. It did not help my problems at all.
I never take advice from those online doctors. And I have read a lot about Taurine but never saw a thing about it being helpful for sleep. Eyes and heart health, yes. For staying asleep longer I take one Advil. It works most nights but when it stops working I have to skip a few nights before it works again.
Advil? Crossette, that’s a new one on me. Have to tried magnesium supplementation for sleep?
