Would like information of others who have taken this medication. How long prescribed, how you got off this. Did you have side effects following. Any & all information is greatly appreciated.
Tysm!

How awful. Your medication decisions should be your decisions!
I don't know a lot about theanine, and I've never tried it.
Is there any way you could get a second opinion, get a refill of the Klonopin, and taper off more gradually?
What have you learned or read so far about theanine? Do you see any pros or cons that might influence what you decide?

You should decide to go off klonopin. There are millions on it. Dr. Are getting funny about it. It's all that works for me. 12 years of 2mg a day. Just gotta find it. Don't get it off the streets though.

Hi everybody
I just joined this forum and I am very grateful.
I was on Klonopin 0.5 mg for about 10 yrs. My family doctor prescribed it because I had experienced multiple losses one by one and had anxiety issues.
Long story short- my family doctor retired and new doctor on our first visit told me - no more Klonopin and to stop it in 2 weeks. She prescribed Wellbutrin, which I don’t want to take.
I took a month to tapper it down and stopped a week ago. Having hard time with withdrawal symptoms.
My question is about LTheanine Serene Supplement.
It was recommended to me by grief counselor some time ago.
I know I will need help with my anxiety.

My taper off clonazepam was in 2018. It took over 7 months and was under the supervision of my primary care provider and neurologist. It was successful. Perhaps you could reach out for a reassessment The time that was given to you may not be compatible with your body. I had no withdrawal symptoms but was afraid. I had a seizure risk from a craniotomy done in 2014.My cognitive abilities improved my critical thinking skills improved during the taper. I have no regrets other than being prescribed it in the first place.

Hi and thank so kindly for responding. I was put on this medication in 2003 when all my symptoms started. This was prescribed for leg pain and leg tremors. At this time I was diagnosed with transverse myelitis. Very severe leg pain. I really don’t remember the dosage. If I knew then what I know now, I would have researched this medication plus probably never would have taken it either. Last two years I’ve gone from 4 relapses, 4 sets of steroids infusion, almost died from extreme weight loss. After lowering this medication leg pain has disappeared, noticed over all health improvements. Started feeling better. Never suffered panic or anxiety attacks in my life until I lowered this medication. Read that this medication very well is now the cause of these attacks. Coming off this medication has been a year long battle but I’m doing it. I was completely off of it for 10 days feeling fantastic....myself again until I started MS symptoms again. I had to go back to my last dosage amount that I ended off on which is very frustrating. So I’m searching for others who may have come off this, trying to come off etc.,
I’ve noticed a lot of what this medication has caused me and wondering if others have noticed the same thing.

I was put on this medication approximately 6 years ago because of restless legs syndrome, neuropathy and difficulty sleeping. I really can’t tell if it has helped at all. I had to change Doctors and my new Doctor wants me off of this drug. After seeing all the problems people are having getting off, I don’t see why I should just stay on it. I can’t be falling or almost falling I am an above the knee amputee and walking is hard enough with out withdrawal causing me to fall. My Doctor says I’m over medicated. I take two pills for sleep the colazapam, and a muscle relaxer trisanidine. The sleep aids are lanesta and seraquel. None probably spelled correctly. He said that it’s a wonder I woke up in the mornings. He said he will not prescribe the sleep aids any longer,or the colazapam . So I guess I have to come off it. I will have to see a psychiatrist to come off it according to my Doctor. I take 22 pills every night and 8 in the mornings, when I remember them. Do you think I should try to come off the colazapam or just continue on like I am. I know I take too many medicines, over medicated, but some of them I have to take. I just don’t know what the big deal is with him about coming off the colazapam, it really doesn’t help that much but it sounds terrible to try to come off of it now after years of being on it. Just don’t know what to do. Sorry this was so long and if you got this far thanks.

You must become addicted to it and not realize it. I can’t tell it has had any effect on me, as far as dependency. I’ve gone without it for a couple of weeks and had no problems. I still plan on coming off of it. I’ve come off many pain meds in the past cold turkey with no withdrawals, morphine, oxy, methodone etc. I was in a really bad accident and was using pain meds for many years, is colazapam different from pain meds? This is the first I’ve heard of the problems with this medication, when I changed Drs. Thanks for the info.

1 mg is a very low dose. I was taking 8 mg a day, which was low also, and after 5 years, my doctor was actually being pressured by the clinic he worked for, for 20 years, to get his patients off and to prescribe expensive, addictive, new medications instead. So he went according to Ashton's Manual and switched me to Valium. Valium is shorter acting and does not stay in your system as long. The dosage is different and if I remember correctly, I went from 8 mg to 3 mg of the Valium with the same result. After a year, I am down to 1 mg Valium in the evening, but I will be taking this dose for months as I am 71 years old, been on benzos for years, and my body needs to adjust. Then it will be 1/2 mg for months and then nothing. I have ben cautioned not to taper too quickly. In the meantime, I must substitute holistic methods of dealing with insomnia and anxiety. Which is difficult here as there isn't any group activities, so I got Roku on my TV and do yoga and meditation using the programs on TV. Also, when I wake early, like 2 or 3:00 AM, I get up and do something for about 2 hours and then I go back to bed. And I pray a lot.

Actually I take Clonazepam 1.5 mg daily and have taken it for 24 years, and I have also worked in a pharmacy for 13 years and 1mg is the required dose to take. It comes in 0.5mg, 1mg, and 2mg tablets. 2mg is considered to be a high dosage compared to the required 1mg dose, so I'm not sure where you got 8mg from but it's definitely not Klonopin/Clonazepam.

In my life as an international professional surf bum, all I can say is the U.S. has the worst healthcare of any country in the world, (including emerging nations.) When I got accute bronchitis while in Spain, I went to the main hospital in Barcelona, sat in the emergency room for about 20 minutes, and then was seen by two nurses and an MD. The cost of the hospital visit was free, and the medication I was prescribed was affordable compared to what it would have cost me in the U.S. which is rapidly becoming a third world nation. Now, at age 73, all I can say is that I hope to die quickly; so, if I get ill and end up in an American hospital, either my wife or I will make sure they know DNR will be my first order of the day. I recently read that when Medicare gets chopped by 25%, nursing homes will begin evicting their residents; great country that drafted me to lay my life on the line in order to make some huge corporations even wealthier. Thanks for the Parkinson's Disease, Uncle Sam. Here I am standing next to my fresh from China, broken e-trike which was supposed to be my transportation. I should have ordered it directly from China; couldn't have been a worse deal--took me two months to get a partial reimbursement from Lectric, an AZ based e-bike company who let me to believe they "make" good solid equipment. Can't trust anyone from ripping you off anymore. The VA told me that as soon as they make a determination on my PD, I will become eligible for power wheelchair--can hardly wait.

@horowitz71 First of all thank you for your service.
Secondly I couldn’t agree more that we have one of if not the worst healthcare system in the world.
That being said they are making cuts to Medicaid and fighting over extending the affordable care act subsidies.
Time to move my friend.
It is not going to get any better. How anyone can vote Republican is a total mystery to me. It wasn’t always this way but it has been the last ten years.
Good luck.

Ive been on 1mg of Clonazepam for about 8 to 10 years. I moved from my home state 4 years ago and ive had i couple of different drs where i moved that would continue my treatment plan but both Dr's have left the practices and its just getting hard to keep changing and finding a Dr who will prescribe it. Ive been on the same dosage since i can remember but now i feel like i should just come off of it instead of worrying whether im going to find a Dr who will continue with the treatment. Im just afraid i wont taper right or ill have extreme withdrawal and the thought of seizures is terrifying - ive never abused it - i have only ever taken what a Dr told me to take for anxiety and panic which has never been over 1mg. How should i taper?

cici89(@cici89) I'm afraid you really need a doctor for that. My first taper-off was about 15 weeks long, but being an addictive drug, there's the hassle of "Refills only by the current prescriber". I was out of state, lost my way with the quarterd and eigth-cut pills, couldn't get hold of my shrink-provider, ended up stopping the Klon ...yup. Messed up, had a Grand Mal that was totally unlike my previous 2. I ended up with big problems. Now 2 years later, still messed up. Please: you need a neurologist or psychiatrist (they often prescribe it for anxiety. Now I'm trying for the third time of tapeing off. My Epileptologist Neurologist is in charge this time and the taper from 0.5mg is 7 weeks long. Sincde you're starting at a higher dose, I can't help you there. Good luck! Stay away from WITHDRAWAL!!!!

My not-so-expert advice is taper VERY slowly. Use a psychiatrist. I was taken off it in one month and I have had many physical problems since. Try to start at .5. Stay in that for a long time. Have your psychiatrist monitor you closely.
