I’ve struggled with anxiety for over 7 years. Tried many SSRI’s and SNRI’s and buspar. Minimal help. Supplementedwith klonopin (posted this recently as a topic). I just started using 300 mg gabapentin (100 mg in morning and 200 mg) in evening). Seems to be helping. Anyone else using it?

My 90+ mother used it for anxeity and sleep. She went to a hospital for seniors with psych. issues and the doctor thre prescribed it.

I just got an Rx for trigeminal and occipital neuralgia which are very painful. I am also trying to avoid using Klonopin which I have used at teeny doses sparingly for years and which seems to affect my memory the next day.

Is it helping your anxiety?

I tried a very small dose last year and was impressed. It made me feel very nice with a heightened sense of well being. Quite calm and happy. I was surprised it made such a difference. Unfortunately, I couldn’t tolerate it due to blurred vision. Sigh. Wish I could take it, but the blurred vision makes it impossible.

My psychiatrist prescribed gabapentin 600 mg 3 X day. It worked at first but now I wanna come off it. Does gabapentin have withdrawal effects? I think it does so I’ll go slow.

For anxiety? Did it work? Why do you want to get off?

I think gabapentin is awesome for anxiety. Please don’t laugh, but my vet gives it to my GSD for anxiety and it is a wonder drug for her. Irene5

I've used Gabapentin for my nerve pain and for my anxiety/panic attacks. It works so well for me. The way I look at it is that at least I'm only taking one medication instead of several.
