Shoulder pain 5 years after replacement

Posted by Ktgirl @farmgirl57, Mar 24, 2017

I had my left shoulder replaced June 2012 and I am having some of the same pain I had before the surgery. I have RA and my elbows are bad as well. Does anyone else out there have pain after the surgery?

I had rotator cuff surgery for impingement and OA in 2022 and 1 year later (since it failed) they told me I needed total shoulder replacement- (I also have had 11 back surgeries and 1 hip replacement and known C5-6 severe stenosis and bad knees- go figure!). I know I sound like the bionic woman! All starting at age 35 while lifting a heavy patient (nursing) and also came down with type 1 DM after all the attacks on my body. I have been in horrible pain after the surgery 15 months ago- moved to Oregon and have not been able to see an MD for that amount of time NO openings and waiting lists on all doctors here-I have not been able to raise my arm past my chest and it feels like my arm is ripping inside when I TRY to lift light weights. I am active (walk 3 miles a day) and keep my weight in check. Its BALONEY the doctors won't allow opioids for people that are in severe pain daily! Tylenol does not touch the pain and by evening I'm ready to give up -I can't understand why the medical community won't allow for people in PAIN to have access to pain meds- but the addicts have ruined that for people in true pain. Grown adults should be able to figure out their own lives and adjust accordingly - in fact I took Norco for 10 years and it helped my pain-now I can't get it unless I go to the streets which could be deadly. I was responsible and only took the minimum and never became a heroin addict. I would NOT recommend this terrible surgery- nobody told me it had such a high failure rate! DO NOT DO IT! even my PT told me this surgery has a high failure rate, and I am in worse pain then before I let them cut on me promising relief. BAD DECISION
