I have been on benzos for longer than I would like to admit. Largely for panic and general anxiety disorder. They have helped me immensely get through life and achieve many milestones. However, as I approach older age, I have a strong desire to taper off as much as I can. I have successfully lowered my dose from 1.75 per day to .5 per day and feel fine. This was due to a very slow taper over the last two years. I find that the bigger challenge as I titrate down is the psychological battle that must be fought. (becoming acclimated to the reality that you are in the world without that pharmacological support and you’re actually “doing it” on your own! Good luck to all.
Good Luck, My new primary dr cut me off pretty much cold turkey from 3 mg a day,It has been a detox from hell,6 months later ,im still not normal, I thought it was unethical to put me thru this hell, Good Luck, you might need it, Jumping of benzos, is the worst
Hi can you cut the tablets in half then try to cut them down
I was on Xanax,I think detoxing from any kind of Benzo,Is extremely difficult
Good Luck
You should be gradually tapering EVERY DAY. Unfortunately, the majority of doctors do not know how to taper people.. 5 to 10% a month at the most. A very slow taper works best listen to your body.. Every other day confuses your body. No wonder you don’t feel right.
Thank you I am making an appointment to see my doctor tomorrow (Monday) I am on .05 mg now so I will attempt the last tablet in about two months once my body gets used to it
It not easy I can tell you that been in hospital two times now and it’s not easy when you’re so called neurologist put you on them for no reason
So called is right. When I needed help getting off of Ativan not ONE knew how to Correctly taper off. I had to find a Benzo website where there’s millions of people trying to get off and they do get off with proper help.
Hello Ellerchim
I wish my Dr did that, He seemed to think, Jump off, and get over it
I had to find a new provider, The torture was to much
Good Luck
They have no business prescribing these unless they have schooling on what happens after you build a tolerance to these and the horrible symptoms that come with them. This is a silent epidemic. These doctors need to be held accountable for what they do and how they don’t help
