Dry orgasm after prostate cancer treatments

Posted by jc76 @jc76, Apr 7, 2024

For me this is a very emparassing question and subject. I think MCC is a great place to ask.

I have seen some past post but don't remember much about the discussion. I had 30 rounds of proton radiation and no ADT. It will be 1 year since my last treatment in July 2024.

I am not sexually active (intercourse wise due to back and medical problems with both spouse and I). My spouse and I enjoy each other with manual arousal love making.

I noticed orgasms are dry with litte or no liquid. I plan to discuss with my R/O in July but would like to see if this is something that has happen with others who did not have RP. I am not sure if I should be concerned about it or that is a common issue after radiation.

Bear with me was not easy to ask. I have found MCC a place where I can ask embarassing (at least for me) questions where I would never do so in person or in a in-person group.

Now the question comes back to the man about faking it.

I remember being told about almost every conceivable side effect of radiation treatment. But dry orgasms were not one or gone over so quickly I did not remember.

I did not see posts about it, so I did one and boy did the posts come back with so many others with same side effect. I did go to my R/O who confirm common as the margins included (for me) the semenial vessels as well as other margins.

I empathsize with others who have experience this. It seems quite more common than I thought. That does reflect or reduce the shock when it happened to me, and others when it happens the first time.

It can also be a side effect of taking Flomax and goes back to normal after stopping Flomax. But my doctor said it is also pretty much going to happen with radiation of the whole gland and if the seminal vesicles are involved too.

I don't think it is a bad thing, just different. My wife and I actually had a good laugh over it, as in, "What? That's it?"

It's normal. I have zero seminal fluid due to seminal vessels being removed during my radical procedure. My first time pee shot about 3 feet over my left shoulder lol. Perhaps TMI but worth noting. My wife can't tell when I organism, but I can. It isn't as powerful which I think is probably a nerve related thing due to not having seminal fluid passing through but still happens and is satisfying. I can still put a smile on her face with alternate methods due to her post cancer physiology. The gift of life is the most satisfying aspect of the surgery.
