Hi Jan: Next best thing to Acetylcysteine outside is easy - even in now tundra New Hampshire. My desk has a window on one side about 4' away from where I sit. I setup a pedestal fan on the other side of my desk. The wind from the fan carries the smell right outdoors without turning my office into a freezer. My wife noticed that the smell no longer wafted through the house. win - win!

My pulmonologist recently told me to carefully watch the age of N acetylcysteine - when it stinks it is deteriorating, and probably no longer effective. She recommends buying a 30-60 day supply at a time from a source that sells a lot of it.
I am looking for such a source now, but haven't found one yet. My current vendor tells me they can't always guarantee a "fresh" batch.
