Forteo side effects
I was going to start Forteo next month but just saw the following discussion:https://www.inspire.com/groups/bone-health-and-osteoporosis/discussion/forteo-side-effects-urgent/?lid=knr77xgdlylk&utm_campaign=Activity%20Summary%20Email_Daily%20Send&utm_source=email&inspire-id=J3VQXPM9
I'm scared and start wondering if I should start Forteo, your advice is very much appreciated!
Thanks a lot in advance for your help!
Best regards
Ning

Thanks for sharing @reldo ! I think the delayed approval from your insurance company turned out to be a blessing which gave your bone remodeling an uptick from a suppressed state. Your early bone marker responses showed that 👍
broken13 - I'm sorry I took so long to respond. My Endo wants me to do the yearly Reclast injections. I will start in April. Not looking forward to it. It sounds like most get sick for a few days, if not worse. Did you do the full 2 years of Forteo the first time? What did you take in between your 2 rounds of Forteo?
I took Forteo in 2016 for the full two years. Prior to that I had tried Bosophomates but discontinued after only a few weeks when I had a severe reaction. I only went on Forteo after seeking out an endocrinologist on an urgent basis, as I was experiencing a series of spinal compression fractures. Following the two years of Forteo, I did only one shot of Prolia and had osteocrinosis of the jaw and lost two molars which occurred when I was near due for the second shot. For the last 5 years I was taking Raloxifene with no side effects. I am now 67 with -3.5 in my hip, as they can no longer take reading from my spine.
Recommendation was to do Evenity, but that was not approved, so I am now 2 months in with another course of Forteo. Not sure how long I will take it or what I will follow up with at this time. Would love to hear from anyone else doing an extended or second course of Forteo.
All the best to you!
