Hand pain

I haven’t opened a jar in 25 years!

My daughter just installed this little device in my kitchen that helps with unscrewing cans, jars etc… it helps those who have lost strength in hands and wrists. It’s called EZOFF jar opener.

scroll around on this blog there is a whole section on diet stuff and it can help. turmeric chews are one suggestion. Or salmon for dinner.

Correction to my post yestetday regarding hand and wrist pain.
An x-ray revealed osteoarthritis, not osteoporosis.

For me I have pain and stiffness issues when I eat potato's, sugar, white pasta and flour and alcohol. Cherries, strawberries, help.

I’m on my second bout with PMR. My pain is in my shoulders, hips, legs and feet.
However,I do get occasional pain in my hands when I’m developing nodes in my fingers from osteoarthritis. When this occurs my hands are slightly swollen and fingers are very stiff and painful. Have you been checked for any other forms of arthritis?
Yes I depend on my husband sometimes to open jars! 😂. There is a rubber mat with holes in it that you can cut to size to keep cutting boards from slipping that also works great to open jars! Sorry I don’t know what it’s called but it comes in rolls and you cut it to size.

If you are having pain, stiffness and hand shaking you should see your Primary care or rheumatologist for evaluation….

I’m not sure what PMR does “officially”, but in the last several months my pain has moved into both hands after being dx 4 yrs ago. My fingers have begun locking and thumbs are very painful😑…prior to this, I had significant foot pain. It seems to have migrated to my hands 🤷🏼‍♀️…this condition is very odd!

Sounds like arthritis to me. You might want to have further evaluation for osteoarthritis or inflammatory arthritis from your pcp or rheumatologist.7

I had unbearable finger pain so I went to a hand surgeon who tested me (electric impulse testing) and said I was one of a small percent of the population that gets a reoccurrence of carpel tunnel. I asked about my swollen hands and never really got an answer from him. I had carpel tunnel surgery in June and July and the severe pain in my fingers went away. Then I went to a rheumatologist for my still swollen hands and other issues that is when I was told I had RA or PMR and he questioned why I had carpel tunnel surgery with swollen hands - I said it's what the surgeon recommended. The rheumatologist never actually said but hinted that my hand pain could have been associated with swollen hands - possibly but the pain did go away after hand surgery. Anyway I feel like my PMR / RA is under control with only slight pain but my hands are still somewhat swollen but am totally off prednisone and taking methotrexate once a week. Under control, feeling good and hoping this is all behind me!
