Transdermal HRT
Many studies have found that transdermal HRT protects and builds bone without all the horrific side effects of many first-line osteoporosis treatments. The patch bypasses the liver and thereby avoids the risks of breast cancer, strokes, etc. Has anyone explored this or discussed it with their doctors?

So have you maintained all your gains on Forteo with HRT. Would love to know post 4-5 yrs.
Thank you!
Yes, pretty much. I've hovered around -2.9 in my spine since then. My hips have always been fine, in fact I think I gained a bit in my hips in recent years. This past year I increased my HRT dose to .05 transdermal so hopefully I will continue to maintain or see slight gains as I am weight training heavier than before.
Thank you! So I assume post forteo you have only used HRT to maintain BMD? I just started Tymlos alongside HRT. They will want me to do recast post Tymlos but am undecided. I would prefer HRT only.
Reclast bit recast
Stupid spellcheck! Reclast!
Yes, post Forteo my only drug has been HRT. I just don't know if you are already on HRT alongside Forteo if gains would be maintained. I'm not sure anyone knows that for sure as it hasn't been studied nor recommended necessarily. I did not go on HRT until I was a couple months post-Forteo.
I've had one injection of Prolia at conclusion of one year of Evenity. I am hoping to depend on the bhrt I steady of continuing prolia. That may not be enough though. Would love to hear more about how it is working for you as time goes on. Will you be paying for additional dexa scans to help monitor?
I’m hoping to hear from more people who have maintained gains post Tymlos/Forteo/or Evenity by just doing HRT and/or wt. training. It sounds like most are doing Reclast or Prolia at least once then maintaining with HRT or exercise?? I’m only 1 month into Tymlos and purposely chose Tymlos to buy me some time with the hopes of hearing more good news about alternative options post Tymlos.
What osteoporosis meds have you done? I'd like to do tymlos for a awhile but not sure if would have any positive effects because I had 5 years of alendronate, then forteo, eve ity and my recent and only shot of Prolia. Been on bhrt for 3 1/2 months. Let's all keep posting results with her onboard
It appears no studies had been done as to how well transdermal HRT will hold the bmd gains from anabolics (forteo, tymlos or evenity). I've read from studies that the rate of bmd loss after stopping Forteo without any intervention is a lot higher than that in a typical case of osteoporosis due to estrogen-difficiency. A plan B should be in place should relying on HRT alone turn out to be not sufficient enough. Id think op due to secondary cause(s) most likely requires additional intervention.
Many thanks to @teb for paving the way and sharing personal experiences.
