The Xylimelts stick to my gum/teeth all night. You are right to express concern about the lozenges. I have never had a problem with them as they seem to also stick to my gum/teeth. I have been replacing the lozenges lately with another Xylimelt if the first Xylimelt doesn't last the night. Another option would be the Biotene spray if the Xylimelts make the person uncomfortable.
