Sugestion for good walking shoes for a 90-plus-year-old?
Am reluctant to walk as much as I probably should. Am 93 and in good general health but quite fearful of possiblly falling. I feel that if I had a pair of sturdy walking shoes I would be inclined to walk much more. Any suggstions?

93? Want to walk? You are an inspiration! I would probably go to a podiatrist (medical doctor) and get their recommendation for shoes that are appropriate for you.
Falls can happen so quickly and can be devastating so shoes that meet "non-slip" official specifications are probably best. The Brooks Addiction Walker meets these specifications, has been around for many years and has reputation for a high quality walking shoe, although in recent years I've seen reviews that have stated otherwise. It's typically not discounted though but still a great value. Plus I think Brooks has an excellent return policy - wear them and if not satisfied can return them within 90 days!
But again a podiatrist should be able to tell you the most appropriate shoe(s) for you.
You're 90+??? You inspire me. Thank you.
My son (28 yrs. and in suer shape) has a pair of Hoka running shoes; he loves them but says it takes some time to adjust to their height. Can be a bit wobbly at first. If you get a pair, practice walking at home first. 🙂
super shape (not me!)
Have you looked at a website for SAS shoes? I find them comfortable walking shoes. Would be good to get someone to fit them on you.
My legs hurt constantly , feels like pulled muscles . Also pain from butt down side of leg to ankle. Does anyone you think I need some kind of inserts in my shoes would hep?
Worth a try, I think. The orthopedic insoles my podiatrist prescribed have been a big help.
I love my OrthoFeet shoes and boots. I started wearing them when I had plantar fasciitis and haven’t bought anything else since.
On makes several models of walking/running shoes. They have one that you slip on and it is my favorite walking shoe. Brooks also makes a good walking shoe. I found the Hokas to be unstable for me, but lots of people like them.
That would be a good question for a physical therapist to evaluate after a doctor rules out a more serious medical issue. The problem could be structural, or it could be muscle imbalance. One would be treated with stretching and strengthening exercises, the other might be treated with orthotics.
Have you talked to your provider about this? Some medications cvan also cause this side effect.
I no longer "trek" ... !! Just walk with them!
