Sudden low blood oxygen levels: Anyone else have Vasculitis?
I suddenly started feeling awful about 2 days ago so I went to urgent care for a COVID test. I had checked my oxygen levels before I went and it was low (90]. The test was negative and the chest X-ray was normal. Things have not improved over the last day or so in fact my O2 level has dipped down to 88 twice. I’m going to see a pulmonologist tomorrow and I am set for a CT scan next week.
I believe that the Vasculitis I have may be the cause because it inflames my arteries. Inflammation of the arteries prevents the oxygen rich blood from nourishing the organs.
Anyone else here have Vasculitis? I have Polyarthritis Nodosa.

Welcome to Connect, @texasginny. What were your symptoms leading up to your diagnosis of ANCA vasculitis? Have you been receiving treatments such as Rituximab or other medications for your condition?
Hi Lori,
A few months before the diagnosis I experienced ringing in the ears, blurred vision, and shaky hands. About a month before the diagnosis I had red eyes and worsening fatigue. I remember I couldn't even make my bed because blankets and quilts were to heavy for me.

My vascultis attacked my kidneys so much that I was put on dialysis for about two months. My main treatment has been prednisone (steroids). Over a peiod of one year I've had about four rituxin infusions. I remain on 5mg prednisone daily.

Would like to add that throughout this past year I have lost most of my hair and nails. New nails push out the old ones and I'm left with thin new nails. I believe the hair loss is a side effect of the prednisone. Not sure about the nail loss. I'm guessing it's also a prednisone side effect.
I have started having low blood oxygen levels after any small effort such as standing up, and have just been diagnosed with vasculitis. Docs are soon to order more tests to discern what kind of vasculitis it is. This has completely changed my life. I am bedridden and on oxygen 24x7.
I recently developed IGA vasculitis, which showed up suddenly as a hemorrhagic rash on my legs, then a month later developed colitis which I have never had. I was hospitalized for the colitis and the hospitalist agreed I had vasculitis which 3 other Drs blew it off. I think these things are related but I can’t seem to confirm the connection. I have always had chronic constipation, now have diarrhea to contend with and a very restricted diet, opposite of what I have eaten my whole life. Can’t get in to see anyone about the vasculitis until end of Feb. so frustrating! Rash started before Thanksgiving and still present. The Vasculitis Foundation has weekly support groups virtually that are very helpful.
I just discovered a strange rash on my legs, which is likely similar to yours, since it seams like many very small blood vessels swollen under the sutface of my skin. The derm. said it is vasculitis. At the same time I am seeing a pulminologist for this very strange symptom where my blood oxygen level drops into the 80 s with any very slight exertion. After reading your message I had a eurika moment that these symptoms are probably related. Oxygenated blood can't get through my blood vessels fast enough. My breathing and blood oxy. stabilizes after I rest for a minute or two. My PA was testing my heart but all is OK there.
