Fibromyalgia pain: Let's connect
Is there anyone here that suffers from fibro? I had the 'tender spot test' several years ago and I had 17 out of the 18. I try my hardest to get through the pain with my 4 hydrocodone/acetaminaphine pills a day, Tiger Balm rubbed into areas that are the worst, light exercises, and distracting myself with hobbies or chores, etc; but there are many occasions where none of that helps and I spend most of the day holding down the couch, getting up about 30-45 minutes after that, walking/standing around the house for 15-20 minutes, or sitting for about 15-30 min. I do not drive and my husband works 6 days a week, overtime almost every day, so I'm alone a lot. my wonderful husband is very supportive and I am very grateful for that, but my only other friends are online, out of state, and I will probably never even get to meet them. when extreme pain takes over, my depression takes over and it is so difficult to find hope. does anyone have tips for fibro, whether diet or over-the-counter meds (I've tried them all, I think), or anything, besides hobbies and such? I've tried every over-the-counter med, and the Tiger Balm does cover some of what the pain pill doesn't help, but I'm hoping one of our members might have some knowledge that could help. I'd really appreciate it.

My wife suffers many years from fibro. No medication really helped her. Two years ago we joined a senior citizens housing. We passed a medical screening with the local greatric doctor. He recommanded to use medical canabis oil - a mixure of 10% anti depressing extract and 10% anti pain extract instead of a lot of pills. That helped a lot . No pain at night -so she slepped the whole night . A major pain relief during the day and slowly diminishing the medications. For her (and me) it is a real miracle.
My doctor just diagnosed me this week with fibromyalgia. She said it is often due to stress, of which I have plenty. I tried canibis oil once, nothing. I am trying out half the lowest dose of amitriptyline this week at bedtime. My brother-in-law. a retired pharmacist, does not like that; he said it is old and has too many side effects. So, in Florida, where could I get the medical canabis oil?
The relief using canabis medical mixure takes some time to find the exact quantity to be taken at different hours during the day. You will start with a drop under the tongue morning and evening, then increasing slowly .You doctor should follow up.
Ok. I did buy a vial last year, but no instructions and no effect, so I returned the unused. Does it help right away? or maybe I am just not the right person to use it.
You must find a doctor who believes in the relief canabis brings. There are several options of intake. You and your doctor must decide about what is appropriate for you. In our case the relief of pains at night was fast.
Hi @maryflorida
I am happy to look for a cannabis dispensary near you that carries a medical quality that works for pain. What town do you live in or near? Give me a bit of time....I have to go to MFR right now.
Chris
Thank you... Orange Park..
@maryflorida, here is a link to all of the Florida Medical cannabis dispensaries. Just make sure your physician buys into this decision. Some of the dispensaries have their own clinician and pharmaceutical specialist who should be able to make you aware of any interactions with other medications that you just might be taking. I don't know if all of the dispensaries sell medical patient licenses. You may want to check on that item.
Let me know if you need any interpretive help. What will you be looking for? How much help do you expect to receive from this medical cannabis prescription? It is true that you have to experiment with dosages and timing. It is best that you have something in your tummy if you are a first time user.
I have been doing this for several years. At this point, all of my pain management begins with cannabis. Even though you start with one tincture drop...my experience was that my body adjusted quickly and I moved up to a half dropper, then a full dropper. I use both 2:1 CBD/THC for pain maintenance and a 1:30 CBD/THC for acute pain and the best way to get the most out of a day without pain.
