Because compression socks are not for neuropathy-but for poor venous blood return ( mostly due to failed valves)...
In neuropathy-the peripheral nerves are already damaged and need more blood supply...compression socks will prevent that..thus, your ankles pain. I've tried to explained this to my podiatrist.. she looked at me in disbelief.

Correct, I have poor blood flow to my lower legs (arterial insufficency), so compression socks are actually dangerous for someone like me
