Fingers crossed.🤞🏼
I say if you can stay off meds even for just a little while, it's a good thing. I've taken myself off some meds for a while and, of course, had to go back on them. But I felt so much better physically and mentally for that brief period of time.
And you are right, sometimes the docs don't seem to know what they're talking about. For most of the meds I take docs told me I had to take them for the rest of my life (other than short-term meds like antibiotics). But, several years ago, I took myself off of one of them and when I went back to the doc she asked me who took me oof of the drug. I told her that I took myself off. She didn't seem too thrilled about that but I can tell you that I never went back on it, I never had any further "flare ups," and my lab numbers that had gotten me put on the drug are all within range. This has been years! I wonder if one of the reason docs often say the meds are for life is because they have stocks in the pharmaceutical companies. Who knows?
Stay well, @cheyne, and Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Hi,
I find I'm at my best when off meds and food, it seems to be the only cure for my IBS and ANS it also helps everything else I have going on. A pitty it doesn't help staying alive! Most of my health issues are incurable but are helped with treatment to prolong life. ANS and IBS have the first call for diet with T2, CKD, BP and cholesterol levels taking care of the rest of my dietry requirements. With what is left I get to pick and choose as long as I keep the intake of food and drink to a small amount. I don't think I will ever get used to being in a continual state of hunger. It is easier to be in starvation mode than to be limiting the amount of food I can handle. Eat a little bit and you want more, don't eat and the urge to eat stays away.
I see it has just ticked over to Christmas day here, I should endevour to get some shut eye for just another day. With just the two of us we tend not to celebrate anything year around except for New Years Day when I get to tick off another year of survival completed.
Cheers, all the best.
