fevers from ET or HU
I have had ET JAK2 pos x 2 yr plts around 500 taking 2 baby asa daily. My Plts jumped to 702 and I was started on HU at 500 mg 2 wk later my plts were 580. I was to cont on x 4 wk and recheck again 2 wk later I began running high temps 101 -103 . went to urgent care, all tests neg except CPR was 7.5, oh and my plts dropped to 333. I was told to stop the medication HU and recheck them in a month.. One one has yet to explain what fever was from and why high CRP. Is ET a inflammatory disease ? Is it normal to run high CRP with it? Was this a reaction to HU? 1 week off med and I feel fine again. thanks for responses

Have you spoken with your Hematologist? If not, I would suggest you contact that office asap and see what they recommend.
Yes, I second the motion to call yr doc ASAP to interpret the labs for you and discuss possible treatment changes.
I talked to a fellow patient some years ago who started running fevers and having bone pain after starting on 1,000 mg of HU every day. They cut his dose in half, and symptoms went away. Some docs ease patients into HU slowly to allow them to adjust. Lots of people need to have dose adjustments at first.
Yes, researchers think inflammation goes along with MPNs.
But, it is also flu and crud season, and it's possible you were also fighting a bug. HU can reduce your immunity.

I hope you call your oncologist and get some answers in the meantime please take the time to review the MPN guidelines (it will take several read throughs) and listen to the entire youtube webinar from MPN. It is an hour and 20 min with a few commercials that you can skip through but listen to the entire webinar. You will be much better informed.
Please let me know what you think.
I have had ET since 2003 and I am now 70 yo. We have to help each other.
@winmil99, I thought I'd check in. How are you doing? Did you get any answers about the fever and other symptoms you were having a couple of weeks ago?
